CPT® Code 0962T

0962T – “Assistive algorithmic analysis of acoustic and electrocardiogram recording for detection of cardiac dysfunction (eg, reduced ejection fraction, cardiac murmurs, atrial fibrillation), with review and interpretation by a physician or other qualified health care professional”

This Category III CPT® Code was established to describe the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support the detection of cardiac conditions. The code recognizes the potential of AI-enhanced auscultation to improve diagnostic accuracy and clinical workflow by analyzing heart sounds captured via Eko’s digital stethoscope platform.

What This Means for Providers

• Category III CPT® Codes are designed for emerging technologies and services and support data collection to demonstrate clinical efficacy and value.
  
• While not guaranteed reimbursement, 0962T allows clinicians and institutions to report and track the use of Eko’s AI-enabled waveform analysis services.
  
• Eko is actively engaged with stakeholders to support the development of coverage policies and reimbursement pathways as the clinical evidence base grows.
