If you're enrolled in a health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) through your insurance, you can use the funds for many medical expenses — not only for you and your family, but also for work-related expenses. Because the stethoscope is an essential medical tool for healthcare professionals, devices from Eko may be eligible for purchase/reimbursement. You may also be able to use continuing medical education (CME) funds for stethoscopes.

Reimbursement Types

Health savings accounts (HSA) and flexible spending accounts (FSA) are pre-tax accounts connected to your health insurance plan designed to help you budget and pay for healthcare-related expenses. Programs have different rules, so check with your administrator if stethoscopes from Eko are HSA and FSA-eligible.
A health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) is funded solely by an employer for an employee, unlike HSA/FSA accounts which are primarily funded by the employee. HRAs are used to pay for healthcare-related expenses; however, eligibility of certain expenses can vary from company to company.
Healthcare professionals who require continuing medical education (CME) credits for maintaining licensure or improving skills are typically provided with funds by employers, often as part of a monthly salary or reimbursement following CME activities. In most cases, CME funds can be used for testing new medical devices.
Company Reimbursements
Health systems often provide employees with annual budgets or stipends for work-related expenses. Stethoscopes and other diagnostic tools are often eligible for reimbursement because they are required to assess patients, but are not readily available in the exam room. Check with your HR department for eligibility.
This is my second Littmann® CORE Digital Stethoscope. I purchased my first during COVID; this is to leave at a second work site as we are allotted CME monies to buy new devices. Works AMAZING!

I'd been looking at this device for a long time, but the cost was always out of my price range. That was until I learned you could use FSA/HSA money.

I took advantage of my health system's budget for test devices to try the new ECG stethoscope. I found Eko at a conference, listened to it, and wanted to test in my practice. So far so good!

This blows the socks off every other stethoscope I've ever used. Worth the investment.
