Eko Announced as Finalist for UCSF Digital Health Awards

UC San Francisco's Health Hub, an innovation hub and startup studio supporting the next wave of healthtech entrepreneurs, announces the first round finalists for the upcoming UCSF Digital Health Awards. This unique awards event will celebrate the achievements of innovative companies dramatically improving healthcare with technology.

The finalists were selected across 13 categories by an unmatched team of expert judges in the healthcare and VC industries, including Vinod Khosla (Khosla Ventures), Ursheet Parikh (Mayfield Fund), Blake Wu (NEA), Michael Roizen (Cleveland Clinic), Michael Blum, MD (UCSF), Michael Lesh, MD (UCSF) and Dan Burnett, MD (Theranova) among others. Ten finalists per category were chosen from more than 500 submissions.

"Technology has become an integral part of any conversation about improving the physical and mental health of millions, " said Mark H. "We hope that shining a spotlight on the companies making unbelievable strides in this space will further the conversation on healthtech and bring these solutions to the mainstream, so that doctors can do their jobs better and patient care can continue to be improved across the board. "

Some of the finalists include: Meru Health, Butterfly Network, BetterHelp, wayForward, NOCD, Livongo, Zebra Medical Vision, Headspace, SWORD Health, 23andMe, FitBit, Talkspace, Propeller Health, Evolent Health, Lumeon, Forward Health Group, Ambra Health, Eko, Azumio, Flatiron Health, MobileODT, Castlight, Grand Rounds, Pill Club, Elvie, Lively and Doctor on Demand.

Submissions were open to qualified, mature healthtech companies with in-market products that have been used by thousands of patients and have been verified in a validation study or clinical trial.

Despite the recent growth of the healthtech industry, which reached nearly $8 billion in investments in 2018, the reach of digital health remains limited by a lack of knowledge ofon the potential of these technologies. UCSF Health Hub established the Digital Health Awards to spread awareness for the leading healthtech companies transforming patient care, so that today's cutting-edge technologies can have an even broader reach to better people's lives and decrease healthcare costs.
